Marbles is Saved From Euthanasia by Dallas Dog!

Updated: Sep 12, 2022

March 15, 2022

So yesterday we received a call from one of our local shelter partners. Marbles' owner brought this 4 year old dog in to be euthanized. I want to mention this she said he was walking one minute and the next he was not and they need him to be euthanized! No second thoughts or chances were given.

The shelter called for support and I knew immediately what it was and that time was critical with about 50% chance of fixing it with surgery but must be completed within 24 hours of the incident!

Honestly as full as rescues are, the cost of the procedure it was very unlikely that a rescue would be able to get him to the vet within the needed timeframe to get him walking again.

So my gut said get him out NOW and get him to Med Vet in DALLAS. They will get him in immediately for exam and surgery if needed.

This morning we named him Marbles. He will be having emergency surgery to give him a chance to have a chance to gain the ability to walk and go to the bathroom on his own!!

We were quoted $8,000-$12,000 for his whole medical care they went on the high end to cushion they are leaning on about $10,000 with his stay.

He was diagnosed with Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). This is a condition where the cushioning discs between the vertebrae (bones) of the spinal column either bulge or burst into the spinal cord space. This is commonly called a herniated disc or slipped disc. These discs then press on the nerves running through the spinal cord, causing pain, nerve damage, and even paralysis.

He needs this surgery NOW please DONATE!

Update: March 16

Marbles here!

My surgery went well! They were able to repair the impacted area, however there is still NO GUARANTEE that I will walk again!! It is a start though! The rescue is looking for a foster to assist in my recovery!! I probably will not to be too much of a problem - just lots of rest first!

The rescue still needs to raise about $5-$7,000 dollars for my surgery, please help by donating.
