Please note the following: 
• Timeline: You should hear back within 24 to 72 hours of submitting your application. 
• Check Your Messages.
• Check your email, including spam or junk folders. 
• Look for text messages or phone calls from unfamiliar numbers.

If you haven’t heard back after 72 hours, please email us at adopt@dallasdogrrr.org to follow up on your application.

I was not selected to adopt. What can I do next?

If you were not selected for the pet you applied for, don’t worry—you can still adopt!

Why Wasn’t I Selected? 
• There may have been multiple applications for the same animal. 
• Another applicant might have been a better fit based on the animal’s needs. 
• The foster family may have decided to adopt (foster fail). 
• What Can I Do Next? 
• You are welcome to reapply for another pet at any time. 
• Consider submitting a Generic Adoption Application to help us match you with the perfect pet.  Our goal is to find the best fit for both the animal and your family!

• Check out our events calendar to meet some of our adoptable pets in person.

How long does the adoption process take?

The adoption process typically involves the following steps:

1. Submit Your Application: Complete the adoption form on our website. 
2. Initial Review: Our team will reach out to you for further information. 
3. Home Check: 
	• Submit a video of your yard and living spaces (no private areas). 
	• Provide vet references if applicable. 
4. Interview: We’ll conduct a brief interview to get to know you better. 
5. Meet and Greet: We’ll schedule a meeting with the pet you’re interested in.

Important Notes: If the dog is still in quarantine or not medically released, we can approve your application in advance so you’re ready to proceed as soon as the dog becomes available.

The process may vary depending on the pet’s medical or behavioral needs.

Does Dallas DogRRR conduct medical and behavior testing on every animal?

Yes, we perform a thorough medical check on all animals. Behavioral assessments are done as needed to ensure the well-being and safety of the pet and adopter.

• Animals in foster care receive regular updates from their foster families regarding their behavior.
• Please note that pets may behave differently in new environments, so we always encourage careful observation and adjustment during the transition period.  
• Many of our dogs also receive training, and puppies are provided with socialization opportunities to help them succeed in their new homes.

What is included in the adoption fee?

• Spay or neuter surgery 
• Age-appropriate vaccinations 
• Microchip 
• Initial medical exams and treatment of essential medical needs 
• Heartworm testing and prevention

We ensure that every animal receives the care they need before finding their forever home.

Can I have a cat or kitten declawed?

No, Dallas DogRRR does not support declawing cats or kittens. This practice can cause significant physical and behavioral issues for cats.

Does Dallas DogRRR rescue purebred dogs?

Yes, our rescue often takes in purebred dogs, but availability varies.
