WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT DALLAS DOGS’ RESCUE ANIMALS
All of our dogs go through our foster care program, where they are loved and cared for in a home environment. While some may reside in boarding due to a lack of available fosters, every effort is made to assess them within a home setting. Our fosters provide valuable updates on each dog’s progress and behavior, and if needed, we ensure they receive additional training from our dedicated training team. Each pet is medically and behaviorally prepared for their new home, fully cared for, and supported during their transition.

Our Adoption Process
We believe in transparency and work to find the perfect match for both the pet and their new family. Our adoption process is simple and designed to ensure the best fit for everyone involved. When you adopt from us, you’ll become a part of the Dallas DogRRR family, and we’re here to offer ongoing support.
Submit an application for an adoptable dog or cat on our website. You will be contacted via text, so always check your email and phone for updates. If you do not receive a response within 72 hours, please check your Spam folder. If there is still no response, email us at adopt@dallasdogrrr.org so we can ensure your application went through our system. Please make sure that you’ve clicked all the required buttons and hit submit when submitting the application. If the pet you applied for has already been adopted or isn’t a good fit, keep an eye on our website. You can also let our adoption processor know if you’d like assistance in matching with another dog. An adoption processor will review your application and contact you within 2 business days to begin the process.
Once we’ve reviewed your application, a member of our team will schedule a virtual home visit and vet reference check. During this time, we will work to match you with the dog that best fits your home and lifestyle. Be sure to let us know if there are any specific traits or qualities you’re looking for in your new family member to help us make the best match possible.
Once we’ve identified a potential match, you will have the opportunity to meet your potential new family member. For adult dogs, we highly recommend that both you and any current pets meet the dog. In most cases, this can be done in a single meeting, but for some dogs who are timid or scared, multiple meet and greets may be necessary to ensure a successful match.
In some cases, we may receive multiple applications for a dog. When this happens, we do our best to review all applications and select the home that is the best fit for the dog. If you are not selected for a particular dog, we are happy to work with you to find another dog that would be a better fit. Please understand that we take this process seriously, and while we don’t want to disappoint anyone, our goal is to ensure the best outcome for the dog and the adopters. If additional applications come in while we are in the process of meet and greets, we place those applications on hold and inform applicants that the dog is in the meet-and-greet phase.
Congratulations on your new addition! Once the adoption contract is signed, you will receive your dog’s medical records, and the microchip will be transferred to your name. We also offer free training sessions for fosters and adopters—be sure to ask your adoption processor about available opportunities. After the adoption, you’ll become part of the Dallas DogRRR family! Please join our foster-adopter group to share updates and connect with our community. Fosters love seeing updates on their former pups, and we provide valuable resources for new adopters.

DISCLAIMERS
At Dallas DogRRR, all of our animals go through a thorough medical and behavioral evaluation process. While it’s not necessarily rigorous, each dog is carefully monitored and supported through our foster system, where they receive medical care and are observed in a home environment. Our fosters are trained to help support the behavioral needs of the animals, regularly updating us on their progress and any concerns. This allows us to disclose all known behaviors to potential adopters. However, as with any animal, new behaviors may emerge as they become more comfortable in their new home. For our boarding dogs, many have experienced a home environment at some point and receive regular socialization and training, including the Canine Good Citizen program and work with volunteers. Some dogs also undergo more intensive training based on their individual needs. We provide full transparency to adopters about each pet’s medical and behavioral history, but please understand that every dog’s behavior can evolve as they adjust to a new environment. However, we do not guarantee breed or age, as these details are based on the information available at the time of rescue.
