Harold's Critic Corner......My so called "Vacation Getaway"

Sir Harold reporting. I apologize for my absence but the warden, or so called "Servant" has finally allowed me a moment to post.

Let me update you on my “so called vacation” (seriously cannot stress enough this word is used quite loosely)…. I have NOT been pampered, not been put on a pedestal. They do not realize who I am or maybe they just do not care! The service has just been subpar. The only positive thing is believe it or not this so called rescue allows this peasant to foster puppies. I sure do love puppies!

I was given visitation privileges to spend time with the other campers..I am quite smitten with the small ones. They are truly the light at the end of the tunnel of hell I am enduring.

The local campers seem nice enough…somewhat bland and they like the warden which makes them completely untrustworthy.

As far as the accommodations go…other than its ability to provide me with a somewhat tolerable bath time, I am highly unimpressed. They seem to not be fazed by my demands nor my title. Stay tune my followers…

I shall prevail and live to tell my tale of these unfortunate events. Keep following my "so called vacation" or better yet prison sentence.

More to come.....

Sincerely,

Sir Harold the Critic

Welcome to Harold's Critic Corner!

Harold is purebred Frenchie. Originally purchased from a Dallas Petland (that thrives on the exploitation of dogs in puppy mills) for $7,000. Shortly after he was bought, the owner realized he had some serious medical conditions when he stopped walking! She reached out to the pet store and they said she must have dropped him and that he was fine. She was told by the vet that he needed immediate surgery. She was not able to afford that after the large payment of buying him just weeks prior. She reached out to our rescue to surrender, and Dallas Dog took him in. He will forever live as a foster in the rescue and receive all the medical care he needs. He will not live a full life however he will live the best life. Harold has been diagnosed with Kyphosis, megaesophagus, hydrocephalus and an enlarged palate.

He requires quite the daily medical ritual. Hand feedings 3 times a day in an upright position. We call this time "meatball time" because we make his food into tiny flat meatballs, making it easier to eat. He requires daily medicals from pills and injectable medication. Harold is completely paralyzed from the bottom of the neck down so he is incontinent and needs medication and help expressing his bladder. He is not able or won’t drink water on his own so he receives daily sub-q injections. Harold is almost two years old. You may wonder how could this happen? Harold is an example of the horrors of puppy mill operations where irresponsible breeding produces dogs with major issues all for profit.

Fortunately, Dallas Dog saved this little fellow from euthanasia. He now lives a comfortable life being spoiled and having all of his needs met. Harold is a spokesman for standing against irresponsible breeding and ending the sale of puppies from irresponsible puppy mill breeding. He also is quite the sassy frenchie and love to boss his foster mom around. He has a big personality for such a little guy!

Harold adores his foster mom and he is extremely attached to her! He is also lucky because his foster mom is the President of the rescue. He is quite the little dude that packs a serious attitude. He loves exploring, getting carted in his stroller, and befriending new fosters. He is quite the fighter too. He has already had a 10 day stay at the ER with pneumonia. The vet said he would not likely survive another bad case. We have to be very careful and watch when he is eating due to his regerg, he could stop breathing and has to be rushed to the ER! He usually bounces back quickly and is back to handling his complaint department for the rescue.

Harold’s story isn’t the first or last. His story is WHY we continue to do what we do and work to change the animal welfare laws across Texas.
