Welcome Biggs into the rescue!! Dallas Dog has just taken in this adorable boxer mix puppy. He arrived yesterday all because a foster said YES!!!
Dallas Dog Rescue is an entirely foster based rescue. We depend on our community to step up and foster so we can save more lives.
Why Should I Foster?
Fostering is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have (other than adopting, of course). Fostering saves lives. It saves the life of the dog you are fostering plus saving additional lives by freeing up more space for dogs in need. By taking in a dog from a shelter, they can avoid the dreaded euthanasia list.
By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home you are:
Freeing up a spot so the shelter or rescue can take in another animal.
Giving your foster animal the time he needs to be ready for adoption.
Helping the rescue learn more about the animal so they can end up in the best home possible.
Socializing the animal to a home environment and possibly getting them used to being around other pets and different types of people prior to going to their forever home.
The rescue will pay for all medical and provide you supplies while you provide the love and affection!
Key Responsibilities of a Foster:
Provide a safe, clean, and caring environment.
Provide food, water, litter, toys/enrichment, and shelter.
Provide exercise and socialization if appropriate.
Monitor for physical and mental well-being.
Take pictures and update bio weekly.
Transport to/from any necessary vet appointments.
Transport to/from offsite adoption events.
