A Heartfelt Journey: Whiskey Sour’s Story
In March of 2022, Whiskey Sour came into our lives, and her journey has been nothing short of remarkable. This sweet girl has faced unimaginable hardships, yet her resilience and gentle spirit continue to inspire us every day.
A Troubled Past
Whiskey Sour’s life began in a small town in East Texas, where she lived in a broken-down trailer, essentially homeless. Her early years were marked by neglect and suffering. Her leg was broken and left untreated, causing it to heal improperly. The cruel DIY procedure performed by her previous owner only added to her pain. She also endured multiple pregnancies, despite being strong heartworm positive.
When she was finally rescued, she was in labor and had been for two days. Tragically, all her puppies had died inside her, leading to an emergency C-section that saved her life but left her nearly septic. Despite her dire condition, Whiskey Sour showed incredible strength and a will to survive.
Ongoing Medical Challenges
Whiskey Sour has a deformed leg from her untreated break, causing her to roll her foot, making it crooked and unfixable. Her other leg bears the weight and stress, resulting in two torn TPLOs that require continuous care. Additionally, she is deaf, adding another layer to her special needs.
Whiskey was so heartworm positive that we had to bring in a cardiologist to hand remove the worms, a procedure that is extremely risky. Despite all these challenges, Whiskey Sour’s spirit remains unbroken. She is one of the sweetest dogs we have ever met, with a heart full of love and a gentle demeanor that touches everyone she meets.

Whiskey Sour is a long-term special needs dog who will require ongoing medical care. She needs a loving and patient forever home where she can feel safe and cherished. Her story is one of resilience and hope, and we are dedicated to finding her the perfect family that can provide the care and love she deserves.
