Hopeless and Broken

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

Arnia found her wings today. There is not a heart that is not shattered, there is not a dry eye in our rescue today.

The loss of a rescue dog is very difficult, but Arnia was not just any rescue dog, she was special. Today was one of the most difficult days I have had in a very long time.

She was so special to everyone in the rescue, she represents HOPE, her life before us was terrible. She laid on the ground, skin and bones, at a flea market infested with parasites, ticks and fleas. They sucked the life out of her. I will always wonder how many people saw her and turned a blind eye? She did not know love. Her life before rescue was of pain and suffering. We all wanted her to experience happy times.

Arnia fought so hard for so long, she had a strong will to live. These last few days she began to loose that fight there was no will left and her eyes looked empty. She was no longer responsive. She seemed to be a shell. She was lifeless.

We talked and prayed as a team and we all agreed it was time. This was one of the hardest decisions we have made in this rescue in quite some time.

We have had some hard cases but Arnia was special. We were holding out for a miracle. It has been a very difficult few months in the rescue and WE just wanted her to live, we wanted her to rally, we wanted her to thrive.

Her rescue was off to a rough start anemic, covered in ticks, loaded with parasites and emaciated so weak. She rallied had her eye entropion surgery completed, had a complicated and they had emergency surgery. With in a few days she was diagnosed with distemper. It appeared she was going to beat it. She fought hard, till she took a turn and never rallied again.

The foster Shelby and Amy did amazing with making her time in our rescue filled with nothing but love and comfort.

Today an ANGEL got her wings.

As I type these words tonight I am still struggling to tell her story. As the tears stream down my face and my heart is shattered into pieces I ask that you all pause for a moment for Arnia.

Heaven gained an Angel today and an Angel got her wings. Run Free, Sweet Girl. Run free. May you cross the rainbow and never feel pain again.

We love you sweet girl, I just wish we could have saved you. #runfree #rainbowbridge #distempersucks

Arnia deserves a fighting chance. Dallas Dog took her into rescue and got her to an emergency vet.

She was covered in fleas and ticks she is positive for Ehrlichiosis, she is anemic, and she required an albumin transfusion. Her glucose was on the low end of normal, she is struggling to maintain her temperature however she is stable. She is wanting to eat and drink so that is a positive sign. She is skin and bones and starved. She weighs 28 lbs, and she is about 2 years old. She has no fat on her little broken body. Her stomach is full of rocks and bones so she was surviving on the scraps of others. She will remain hospitalized as she is still quite weak and needs to be monitored. She is fighting to live.

We owe a huge thank you to the woman who did stop to help her. She is alive today because of her

She is still hospitalized, and her bill continues to go up. We are at over $4,600 in needed funds to treat her. I truly believe her life matters. She has fought this hard for who knows how long to stay alive. It is time we show her what DogRRR Nation can do!

So sad, I hope these puppies can find their real homes. Puppies are emotional animals, I hope the world will be gentler for them. hill climb racing
