A Year in Review: The 10 Most Incredible Rescue Transformations of 2022

Updated: Sep 27, 2023

Dallas Dog RESCUES the hurt and abandoned, REHABILITATES the broken, and REFORMS the community through education to eliminate animal neglect. Some of the most amazing miracles of fostering are the transformations we see when the dogs we rescue are given the love and care they so need and deserve.

Here are the top 10 Transformations we saw through our rehabilitation efforts in 2022!

1. McAllister

McAllister was found wandering the streets of South Texas with a rope tied so so deeply embedded into his neck that it almost severed his trachea. He was malnourished, dirty, and looked as if he had lost all hope. Today, McAllister is an absolutely stunning Husky. His transformation from street dog to house pet is absolutely amazing. We are very proud of his progress and his ability to live happily in a loving home.

2. Moose

This Italian Mastiff was very sick when he was surrendered. Unfortunately, he was in a lot of pain and could barely walk. He had multiple issues and he had to have his eye removed. He was a sad sight when he came to us. Today, he is happily loved in his new home and looking healthy and happy.

3. Champs

Champs's story is HEARTBREAKING. Champs was found chained to a tree. He had been there, chained up for quite some time. The heavy chain was pad locked to his neck! Champs was found in a homeless camp. His collar was so embedded deep in his neck, it was necrotic and infected. Today, he is fully recovered and THRIVING. He is also ready for his forever home. This is one amazing dog who deserves a forever home after all he has been through.

4. Stellaluna

This little girl was dumped at the shelter because she “wasn’t growing as fast as her litter.” We received a call from the shelter to help this helpless little thing. She did not even weigh a pound! She was lifeless. She was barely able to pick up her head and struggled to maintain her body temperature. With the love of a caring foster, Stellaluna made a full recovery and is now fully grown and thriving as part of her new family! Her foster failed and she became a permanent fixture in their family.

5. Gypsy

Gypsy had a horrific start to her life. She was left in a dumpster with her muzzle taped shut, her tail and legs burned from being left in her urine and feces. Thankfully someone found her and DogRRR quickly welcomed her to the rescue. Gypsy is thriving in her new home!

6. Minka

Minka arrived at the shelter has a stray she could barely stand and appeared to be blink, her body score was a 1. She was anemic and fought extremely hard to live. She was in the ER for almost 2 weeks. Look at her now!

7. Coal

Coal was another owned dog that was severely neglected. He struggled with anemia from severe parasites.

He was covered in ticks, fleas and his skin was a very bad case of demodex mange. He was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks fighting to live and he did just that look at this boy!! Coal has recently been adopted and living the best life ….

8. Reese

Reese was seized from backyard breeders with her two sisters. We rescued all three from the shelter and provided immediate medical care. We lost her two sisters it was heartbreaking they were extremely underweight, anemic they had severe mange! Reese fought for her life. She never gave up and was the sweetest little girl. She received many transfusions and intense medical care, because of all of you!!!

9. Markie Mark

Markie was found near the border of Texas, he was a young puppy with his head smashed in with what looked like a pointy cowboy boot! Markie Mark was seen by the neurologist and they determined time would be the best after reviewing his C-T Scan. After much-needed time for recovery, he is living the best life in his forever home.

1. Hanna is our most amazing transformation this year by far!

She was found in a pile of trash clinging to life. We believe she was dragged behind some sort of vehicle!

She had wound all of her body we believe she ran until she could run no more and began to flip flop from side to side. We were told by many that she should be humanely euthanized, we could not she fought and continued to fight to live. Who are we to take that will from her, she was hospitalized for almost 4 weeks having multiple surgeries. Was it worth it someone asked. Hell yes, it was!!!!

Look at this girl….
