This handsome guy, Francis (Ford Coppola aka "Ford) is energetic & loves to play fetch with squeaky toys but he can also be a couch potato & watch your favorite hunting show or chick flick! He is lovable but he prefers to make the grand gesture. He is not fond of being picked up or cuddled until he is ready for it. Knows the doggie door. Gets along well with the other dogs in the house. He might do well with an elderly person as he is not so little that someone might trip over him and can jump on the bed or couch by himself. Probably not the best dog for a home with little kids as he is still nervous about people & can be nippy in those types of situations.

He will bark with excitement when it's time to eat! He will bark when he hears noises such as car doors or people talking outside so he might be a good watchdog! He will bark when he's nervous around strangers. His foster mom calls him "Mr. Grumbles because he'll usually just go to his safe place/bed and grumble if he wants to hide.

He has come a long way on his sociability but he is still very shy towards strangers & isn't the "Starbucks dog to sit on the patio & have a cup of coffee... Not yet anyway! Maybe with time & patience, he'll get there but for now, he definitely won't mind sitting on your back patio to have coffee!

He's still working on walking on a leash & gets better every time. Putting a harness on him changes his demeanor & turns him into a slightly different dog; he seems to be unsure of what he is supposed to do but he loosens up after you get going. He knows how to sit for a treat.

He loves to be a rascal! He always brings sticks in from outside playtime & he "Unfolds laundry if he can reach it!

He came to us from the hoarding situation in Mesquite, and he's had a bit of a tough go of it. He was in rough shape physically- with mange, an active skin infection, and a terrible sunburn on top of it. He was completely hairless, and his raw skin was hot to the touch. Just look how adorable and scruffy he is now!

Francis is going to need a patient adopter, who understands this sweet boy is going to need just a little extra time and space to get to know them. He's the most perfect little diamond in the rough!
