Senior pup, Mickey, is the dog you have been dreaming of! Mickey is seeking furever home! He loves long romantic naps and partaking in the enjoyment of fine dining. A cozy spot to nap is a must!
Mickey's Story
When Mickey came to DallasDogRRR initially, he was part of the outreach program after being surrendered by his owners. He has a condition causing collapsed trachea (the tube we breathe through) as well as a heart condition. His family could no longer provide the care needed for this 14 year old boy. When he first arrived he was coughing non-stop due to these health concerns since he was not being medicated regularly.
His Health Journey
Tracheal Collapse is actually quite common in dogs- especially in toy breeds like Yorkies and Pomeranians. The trachea is a flexible tube that we breath through with cartilage rings which keep it positioned open. Symptoms of collapse include a honking cough and appearing to be working harder to breathe. Treatment includes medication and avoiding things that irritate the trachea. Paired with his heart condition, Mickey will be taking medication for the rest of his life. Otherwise he is just like any other spunky, funny senior dog!
Mickey Now-- He's Adoptable!
Mickey is like a new dog now! Mickey's foster mom says he has more energy, coughs minimally, and sleeps through the night. He is a sweet guy who loves naps and food (sounds like the dream right?). He is not a huge cuddler BUT he loves always having his humans within view. So if you're looking for a not so clingy addition to your home, Mickey is your guy!
